When The Professionals Do Not Agree - Consumers Can Become Bewildered…

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Opinions seem to vary greatly, even among health care professionals in the dental industry. Each often has his own favorite product or set of products.

If you take a simple device such as the perio-aid, you will find that different hygienists and even different dentists will give you slightly different and conflicting directions on how to use this tool.

Some attack the products that others recommend. That happened to me lately on twitter. I was quite shocked to see a dental hygienist attack products that she probably knew nothing about. Yet, when going to her profile, I found that she actually promoted a very specific product.

The majority of her tweets were about this product. I questioned her about whether she was working for the particular company that made this product. She said she did not. However, I find it very hard to believe that someone would spend so much of their personal time to promote a product if they were not being compensated for doing so.

This is the problem with marketing, you never know who is behind a particular marketing strategy or ploy. We live in such a commercialized era that it is a bit scary to think about sometimes. With many social media, you never know which profiles are real and which are made up - complete with convincing pictures!

We often hope that the professionals we trust are honest and forthright and perhaps we even assume that they are. I don’t want to say too much more about this issue. It is not limited to any profession or field. It spans the spectrum of industries and professionals. That is too bad for the consumer.

When I was a child I often dreamed of a world without commerce. It would really alter everything. For example, if the question of money were taken out of the equation, would your dental health be better protected and preserved.

As you might imagine, that was just an example, the same question could apply to any industry or profession. It would be nice if the professionals all agreed. When they don’t, whom does the consumer turn to for quality information that is not confusing?

Reasons For Treating Eczema at Home

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

More and more people are getting fed up with the medications that are available, and are beginning to use more natural treatments for treating eczema at home.

It’s quite easy to understand the reason why. First of all medications are unable to cure this condition, and that is a fact. Ask any doctor and he or she will tell you the same. The 2nd thing is when it comes to medications for treating this condition some of the ingredients in them could lead to further health problems down the line.

There are many types of home cures for eczema, and the truth is that you may have to go through a trial and error process before finding one that is going to a significant effect on you. You never know though, you may be lucky enough to hit on one fairly quickly. Treating eczema needs to be concentrated on two particular areas.

Your skin is obviously the first area. Eczema thrives on dry skin. Your skin needs to be kept well moisturized as often as you can. However don’t think that any type of cream is going to do the job. A popular natural product is Aloe Vera, it has been used for centuries because of its abilities for providing skin health.

The other thing is to try and moisturize after you have a bath. It will be more beneficial to you to do it when you get out of the bath, as your pores will be open and your skin will be warm. This allows deeper penetration, and keeps your skin moisturized for longer. Also moisturize before you go to sleep, and in the morning after a shower.

The 2nd factor to help your condition is thinking about the foods you eat. Certain foods act as triggers to this problem, so these foods could actually be making your condition worse. Try not to eat foods which are high in sugar, unhealthy fats, milk and eggs.

When it comes to your diet, focus on eating more fresh vegetables. Dark leafy veggies are especially beneficial. Seaweed is another food which can have a positive impact. In order for our bodies to keep us healthy they need to be kept in a positive alkaline state. Unfortunately for the majority of us, our modern diets tend to keep our bodies in an acidic state.

This needs to be changed so that your body is more alkaline. Fresh vegetables are great for achieving this. Our immune systems can only stay strong if we provide nutrients which are only available in particular types of food. Your body can fight of allergies and diseases more if your immune system is strong.

The intial step in treating your eczema at home would be a detoxifying program which will help your body to rid itself of harmful chemicals and toxic waste. Your body’s immune system will have the resources to fight off further health problems, once your body get’s rid of these toxins.

Is it effective to treat eczema at home? The answer to this is yes, and that is why so many people are switching to natural treatments to reduce eczema.
